what is matterwave?

The Matterwave Collective is a feedback loop, microscope, playbox, switchboard, oasis, and refinery with its sensorium focused on the ongoing work of mutli-disciplinary artists both as individuals and in collaboration. As a collective we aim to heighten visibility of our work by providing display mechanisms both online and through events. Individually we aspire to broaden each other's creative disciplines, pushing them beyond the boundaries of expectation.

The Matterwave Collective Presents Foci 1.0

We thank you for finding our little corner of the internet. The Matterwave Collective started in 2003 as a means to gather our friends in the Metro Detroit area, all of whom had some creative leanings, to give them exposure. Although aspirations were plentiful, we quickly discovered that the path to a collective identity is not a clear cut one. We eventually held our first collaborative event in 2004 in the form of a live show.

Now, Matterwave has relaunched itself in a more streamlined, input-minded form.

Foci 1.0 is as much a mission statement as it is a compilation. It serves as a showcase for our friends past and future, and as a means to raise visibility publicly to artists we appreciate and believe in. Both in mind and in method, The Matterwave Collective hopes to foster collaboration and spurn creative output for all those involved.

You are hereby invited to witness the first fruit of our efforts, an amalgam of artists from across the world showing off their works for free, for you to take in and be inspired by.
